How to Find your Laptop Model Number

How to Find your Laptop Model Number

So what is your laptop number? or what is you motherboard model number? Actually it is easy to locate your laptop model or motherboard model number.

1. Open DirectX Diagnostic tools by typing DXDIAG on your search box select the result on the top of the search result as shown in the picture below.

This is how you open DirectX Diagnostic tools in Windows 10. If you are using other version of windows just hit CTRL + R button to open run and type in DXDIAG. There are bunch of tutorial on how to open dxdiag so I wont explain it here in details.

2. Press OK if a windows pop-up.

3. Now look at the system model, that is you actual model number.

Other Method?

1. Look at the back of your laptop, normally every laptop or PC will have a small sticker which shows your laptop model number. The picture below shows a sticker of a Acer laptop.

Model : Acer Aspire 3002WLCi (Just ignore the WLCi, you only need the number)

2. If there are a lot of number on the sticker, just use the serial number (S/N). Go to the laptop manufacturer support website and  enter your Serial number. It will tell you your model and provide every support available for your model. Here is an example if you are using acer support site:

Banyak orang membicarakan kenapa ketika setelah menginstal ulang atau merepair Sistem Operasi (OS, Win Vista, Win Xp, Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1) sebagian Hardware tidak berfungsi, maka dari itu agar laptop/notebook dapat berfungsi dengan baik kita perlu menginstal atau memasang driver, Pengertian driver atau device driver dalam bahasa Indonesia adalah pengendali perangkat kertas, driver merupakan istilah teknologi informasi yang mengacu kepada komponen perangkat lunak yang mengizinkan sebuah sistem komputer untuk berkomunikasi dengan sebuah perangkat keras.

Perlu diketahui bahwa sebagian besar perangkat keras, tidak akan dapat berjalan atau sama sekali tidak dapat berjalan tanpa adanya driver yang cocok yang terinstal di dalam sistem operasi. 

Device driver, umumnya akan dimuat ke dalam ruangan kernel (kernelspace) sistem operasi selama proses booting dilakukan, atau secara sesuai permintaan (ketika ada intervensi pengguna atau memasukkan sebuah perangkat plug-and-play). Beberapa sistem operasi juga menawarkan device driver yang berjalan di dalam ruangan pengguna (userspace) sistem operasi. Beberapa driver telah dimasukkan ke dalam sistem operasi secara default pada saat instalasi, tapi banyak perangkat keras, khususnya yang baru, tidak dapat didukung oleh driver-driver bawaan sistem operasi. Adalah tugas pengguna yang harus menyuplai dan memasukkan driver ke dalam sistem operasi. Driver juga pada umumnya menyediakan layanan penanganan interupsi perangkat keras yang dibutuhkan oleh perangkat keras.

Repotnya adalah ketika cd /dvd driver laptop hilang/rusak, maka tentu akan kesulitan untuk menginstall driver.
